A special Briefing at the Herzliya Conference

The 2016 Program for Diplomats offered a special track at the 2016 Herzliya Conference.

It focused on Israel's domestic agenda, Israel’s National Security and Foreign Policy, the Arab – Israeli Peace Process, and Israeli Innovations - Start up Nation. Tailored for Diplomats serving in Israel, the Program included of the following events:

The opening day of the 2016 Herzliya Conference

The opening day of the 2016 Herzliya Conference held at the residence of the President of the State of Israel in Jerusalem, titled, "Shared Israeli Hope: Vision or Dream"?,  It included President Riviln's address and keynote speeches by political leaders. The President of the Supreme Court, Judge Miriam Naor offered a judicial view point of the shared "Israeliness" as well.

High ranking ambassadors were invited and participated in these events at the residence of the President of the State of Israel and had the opportunity to get informed first hand of Israel's transformative socio – demographic trends, and the President's agenda towards a "New Israeli Order".

A special reception for Diplomats and Israeli and International CEO's

A special reception for Diplomats and Israeli and International CEO's, was held at the second day of the Herzliya Conference.  Around 50 diplomats and 30 CEO's participated at the reception.

Prof. Alex Mintz, Director of the Institute for Policy and Strategy (IPS), presented the findings of a survey conducted by IPS in Saudi - Arabia and Egypt, on the US upcoming presidential elections.

Expert Guided Field Trip to the Upper Galilee and Israel's northern borders area

Expert Guided Field Trip to the Upper Galilee and Israel's northern borders area, Titled, "Israel's Northern Borders: War and Peace in a Volatile Neighborhood", enabled the diplomats the opportunity to see first-hand the borders of Israel with it's neighbors. The tour which also provided information about historic sites and addressed geostrategic, energy, and water issues was concluded at the tri-borders area (Israel, Lebanon, and Syria).   

(The tour was co-organized with the Israel Project (TIP))

Ambassadors and attachés serving in Israel were invited to participate free of charge in this special track. 50 diplomats attended, among them, the ambassadors of: The US,  Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Hungary, Japan, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, and many others high- ranking diplomats.

As part of the program, Ambassadors and Attachés were also invited complimentary to attend the 2016 Herzliya Conference which featured among other plenary sessions and roundtables the following keynotes:

  • The Honorable Henry Kissinger, Former US Secretary of States interviewed by Mr. Ari Shavit (live broadcast)
  • The Honorable Antony J. Blinken,S. Deputy Secretary of State
  • The Honorble Jan Jambon, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior of Belgium
  • Governor Michael "Mike" Dale Huckabee, 44th Governor of Arkansas

Also presented at the conference, Israeli Senior Ministers, Political Leaders and Military officers.

The Program for Diplomats will be offered in May 2017 (special track at the Herzliya Conference) and October 2017 (Academic Certificate Program).
